Loon rescue! Over Thanksgiving, Vermont game wardens Eugene Stearns and Dale Whitlock put the “Wildlife” in Fish and Wildlife Department. On Thursday night, Stearns responded to a call in Lincoln, where a loon was stranded in a field. This morning Whitlock released it into Lake Champlain. In this wonderful video Whitlock tells the story, provides fun loon facts, then helps the bird into the water, where it swims and dives and calls and dives again.
