The Taku River Tlingit First Nation hosted a three day celebration of Tlingit culture in Atlin, BC this weekend. One of the events was a salmon filet competition which helped put food on the table for a feast the next day. The CBC's Meribeth Deen was there to catch all the action. | CBC North

Gunalchéesh, Háw’aa to the kids from the Tlingit Culture, Language and Literacy dance group for performing at our Native American Heritage Month celebration. It was so wonderful to watch the children dressed in their regalia, singing in the Tlingit language. In this video, the kids are singing the Language Warrior's Chant. We’re also grateful to Wooshkindeinda.aat Lily Hope for reading her book “Celebration,” which tells the story of a young girl’s trip to Juneau for the biennial dance festival.

Focusing on the Tlingit people for the month of October, Tommy Joseph Tlingit from Sitka made this battle armor helmet. Tommy is a master carver who has done extensive work and study on Tlingit battle armor traveling to many countries, where many Tlingit pieces ended up in various museums.
