The Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory is a busy place! In this timelapse, NASA astronauts Sunita Williams and Josh Cassada suit up and enter the 6.2 million gallon pool to practice for spacewalks. Ever wondered how neutral buoyancy works? One of our engineering divers at the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory demonstrates the concept with a lift bag! When neutrally buoyant, the bag doesn’t move. When positively or negatively buoyant, the bag will float or sink because of the change in the buoyant force acting upon it.
