Putting up a small amount of hay the old-fashioned way gave Jenny Schlecht a new appreciation for farm technology.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of a procession of farm equipment through the city of Medina, a re-enactment parade has been planned for July 13.

On Hay Day, Aug. 4, volunteers will make hay the modern way and the old-fashioned ways, using hand tools, horse power and the earliest machines.

The used hay tool segment is remarkably strong across the U.S., as was the price for a 40-plus-year-old, custom-painted tractor that caught Machinery Pete's eye on the auction circuit.

Already this year, the hundreds of acres of hay ground owned by the McIntosh family are capped by new stacks of loose green hay that tower nearly 30 feet above the ground.
